Noble Roberts - drug & gun running

Noble Roberts is from the Gambia, married with two kids. In 1998 he went to America to study law, but wound up with the law studying him. He wanted to live the American dream, from selling marijuana to support himself at college and have lots to smoke himself things progressed.

He made a friend, and with him began to take firearms to New York and sell them to the Columbians for cocaine, which they'd cook up to crack. Many times his life had been preserved during this period. Crack houses would have been just shot up before he'd arrived, or after he'd left… On one 'last trip' to New York, before starting a new life in North Carolina, the police stopped the car they were travelling in with 5kg.

This was like the end of the world for them. 6 months in jail without bail, no one came to stand for him, his friend slept with his girlfriend, everyone had turned their backs on him. He tried being a five percenter, the Bloods and the Krips, Islam…

He feared to tell his family in the Gambia that he was in prison, but one day in the gym he found a bible. He found in it a 'sinners prayer'. And everyday he kept reading this as he found it gave some comfort. And everyday his conviction of guilt grew, to the point that when he turned up in court he confessed to all his crimes, and got only 5 years instead of a possible 15.

God then brought him to a point of brokenness, after which he spent another two and a half years in prison, and he wanted to give his life wholly to God at this point. Thinking of the Gambia as a place 95% muslim he decided he must serve the Lord there. He now works there for IFES, and is presently (2008) training in the UK in order to be more effective back in Gambia.

Jesus Christ has turned his life right around, relationships, family, friends and life itself. He stands there ever ready to do that for you. The Man who served eternity for us, that we might walk free.
